    Glenfiddich Fire And Cane 700ml

    KSh14,999.00

Glenfiddich Experimental Series – Fire & Cane

     (70cl, 43%)

Glenfiddich Fire & Cane Bottling Note

Let the great experiment… Continue! Glenfiddich has added a new expression to its Experimental Series, unveiling Fire & Cane in mid-2018. Malt master Brian Kinsman has given some of the distillery’s peated single malt a three-month finishing period in rum casks – but not just any old rum casks. He’s selected rum casks from a variety of South American countries to finish this whisky, which ought to play nicely with the burly peat notes at its core.

    Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose: Billowing soft peat notes, like distant smoke on the wind. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spiciness.

Palate: Like a Highland peat campfire, with oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke.

    Finish: Lingering smokiness and sweetness.

    Glenfiddich Project Xx 750ml

    KSh14,999.00

Glenfiddich Experimental Series – Project XX

     (70cl, 47%)

    Glenfiddich Project XX Bottling Note

The second release in Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series is their Project XX expression, which was made not simply by one Malt Master, but 20! 20 Malt Masters were invited to the Glenfiddich distillery and invited them to pick any expression from the thousands of casks maturing in the warehouse. The 20 chosen whiskies were then married by Malt Master Brian Kinsman to create this single malt you see before your eyes. Hooray for teamwork!

    Tasting Note

Nose: This smells like a bit of a beastie, lots of woody spicy notes, toffee and orange peel. Clearly some serious cask action going on here.

Palate: Lots of wood: cloves, cinnamon and vanilla with tingly wood tannins, all wrapped up with some sweet fudge notes.

Finish: Long and layered, with lingering notes of espresso and dark chocolate.

    Glenlivet Naddura 1 Litre

    KSh9,999.00

The Glenlivet Nàdurra Peated Whisky Cask Finish

     (70cl, 61.5%)

The Glenlivet Nàdurra PWC Bottling Note

Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in casks that previously held heavily peated (Speyside peat, as we understand it) Scotch whisky. This third no age statement Nàdurra release addresses the fact that if you’re setting out to create a whisky that George Smith would recognise, you do have to appreciate that peat was used at the distillery in his day. Read more over on the blog.

    Tasting Note

Nose: Tangy and ‘fizzy’, old fashioned lemonade and hints of Orangina or Buck’s Fizz even. There’s gooseberry and a touch of coconut and foam banana. Raspberry and rhubarb develop. The peat comes through as nutty malted barley.

Palate: Tasting this alongside Ian Logan, he explained how his favourite tasting notes are the ones that get right to the point, so here you go: Peat & Pear Drops!

Finish: Creaminess and earthy peat combine for a chocolatey finish, both pleasantly bitter cocoa and creamy Cadbury’s hot chocolate with hints of fruitiness still.

Overall: Fruity Glenlivet combining very well with considered use of peated casks.

With this finishing period paired with Laphroaig’s classically intense flavour profile, you might be expecting a massively in-your-face dram, but the result is very well-balanced between coastal smoke and sweet, chewy vanilla notes.
